Venturing is a development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eight grade) through 20 years of age.
Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.
Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations established a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interest of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.
Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocation or hobby interests.
Venture Crew 2508 has become focused on sailing. It works with the Kenosha Days of Discovery and the Kenosha Yacht Club to teach sailing to at-risk youth in the community. The Crew has refurbished two donated sailboats and sails them every chance they get.
We also enjoy other activities including camping, canoeing, and trips to Chicago’s many theater productions. If the youth can think of an activity and plan it, we can do it.
Any one interested in joining the Crew can contact the church office, or call Tim Helgesen at 262.705.4917.
